International Credit Union Day is an annual celebration of the people and programs that bring the credit union experience to communities across the globe. With many clients in this business sector, Employment Technologies’ is pleased to mark the occasion.

This year’s theme highlights the empowering role a credit union can play in planning the future.

Here’s a sampling of the ways this dream is being realized now.

Notre Dame FCU is sponsoring The Kindness Machine, a vending machine fully stocked with random acts of kindness, to South Bend (IN) for the month of October. The Kindness Machine dispenses all the supplies necessary to do a kind deed for someone else.

Educational Systems FCU (Maryland) focuses their involvement on the education community. The credit union sponsors reading programs, spelling bees, science fairs and provides financial education.

As a committed advocate for Alzheimer’s research, care, and support, South Carolina FCU (South Carolina) continues to sponsor the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in several of the communities they serve.

Elevations Credit Union (Colorado) empowers their members and community residents through a strong financial education program designed for all ages. In addition to sponsoring classes for K-12 students, their free financial seminars draw thousands of adult participants.

CoastHills Credit Union (California), originally established to serve the financial needs of the service members on Vandenberg Air Force Base, is now serving a broader community and donates more than $200,000 annually to local non-profit organizations.

With a career spanning 36 years, Carolyn White, CoastHill’s VP for Community Engagement, captures what many credit union professionals often identify as their main motivator for reporting to work, “Everyone in our communities should have the opportunity to achieve financial success. Everyone.”

Thank you, Carolyn, and other credit union leaders for your service and investment in our communities!
