As Hawaii’s largest credit union, HawaiiUSA is passionate about making their members’ financial dreams come true. With branches on Oahu, Maui, Big Island, and Kauai, the credit union takes time to understand the unique needs of the communities they serve and tailors financial products to keep local economies growing.

CHALLENGE

When HawaiiUSA sought to upgrade their leadership development process, they wanted a  similar strategy – to understand the needs of their aspiring leaders and to tailor a program specific to their needs.

“Before working with Employment Technologies, we didn’t have an established system to help potential leaders develop into the type of leader HawaiiUSA seeks to promote,” explained  Jerome Bautista, Curriculum Manager. “When we had a person with potential, we’d just send them to training and hope for the best.”

SOLUTION

Today, HawaiiUSA uses Employment Technologies’ EASy Simulation for Leadership as a vital part of their career development plan. The simulation gives aspiring leaders the opportunity to experience the same challenges leaders face on a daily basis, proving their abilities to coach, problem solve, and motivate team members to reach their full potential. The simulation delivers a highly accurate diagnostic of leadership skills and creates a personalized development plan for each participant based on individual assessment results.

Leading the list of reasons for selecting the leadership simulation was the close alignment with HawaiiUSA’s leadership competencies. Other factors were ease of use, cost effectiveness,  and the ability to use assessment results for further training and coaching. To date, nearly 50 team members have benefited from the experience.
